An Escape from Reality

This past weekend we sent Piper to the lake with her grandparents and escaped to Pigeon Forge for a few days. We had planned the trip a few months ago for our 5th Anniversary. After the loss last week, we considered canceling, but I'm glad we went anyway. It wasn't quite the romantic getaway we had originally planned, but it was nice.

Most of our time was spent shopping and eating. A little retail therapy is always good. Plus, most of my clothes are too big, so I needed new ones. We also forgot our diet for a few days. I can't say we always felt great, but it sure tasted good. We really weren't  interested in most of the tourist-y attractions. We spent a day walking and window shopping in Gatlinburg. We went to the movies one night and saw The Avengers, which was really good. Tim kicked my butt at putt-putt one afternoon. Mostly we just hung out and enjoyed each others company, while trying to forget about the stress and worries and pain in our life right now. We missed our girl, but we needed that time together. I have an amazing husband and I enjoy every moment spent with him.
