9 Months

How on earth is it possible that my precious boys are 9 months old?! I really can't believe how quickly it's gone by. I keep hoping I'll find time to blog more, but it never seems to happen. I have several posts written in my head that I can hopefully post soon. I apologize in advance for the million pictures in this post.

It's hard to believe they've now been on the outside as long as they were on the inside!

The boys are doing well. They're both doing their own version of crawling now and are into everything! Our living room is pretty well baby-proofed and I still feel like I spend a good chunk of my day redirecting. It's so fun to watch them interact. They love each other so much! Unfortunately, they don't love each other "gently." There's a whole lot of swatting, pinching, grabbing, and hair pulling going on in my house right now. I'm afraid that may never change!

I'm extremely proud that we are still breastfeeding. Nursing my babies is so important to me and I really love that time. We had to supplement with formula a little here and there, but they haven't had a bottle in 4 months. I plan to continue until they're at least a year old, then indefinitely beyond that. I think 2 years is probably my limit, but I'll likely let the boys take the lead. I'm in no hurry to stop.

Blueberries!
The boys are trying out all kinds of solid foods now, and boy do they love to eat!

Carson, my little munchkin, has started to close the gap and catch up with Mister Tucker. At 6 months there was a 2 lb weight difference and Tucker was .75 inches taller. Now, at 9 months, my guys are 18 lbs 3 oz and 27.75 inches tall (Carson) and 19 lbs 9 oz and 28 inches tall (Tucker.) I thought twins were supposed to be small, but not my boys! They're both bigger than Piper was at their age.

Aargh Mateys!
It's so interesting to watch them grow and learn. It's so hard not to compare when you have two that are exactly the same age right next to each other all of the time. I've found that they tend to take turns doing things first. Carson tends to perfect the gross motor skills first and Tucker is usually ahead at the fine motor skills. They're definitely very different little people.

Carson is busy, busy and very independent. He tends to just "go for it" when it comes to exploring. He is sitting himself up from crawling position and is pulling up on everything. The kid has no fear, he'll just let go, and then immediately fall down, and then go for it again. He likes to do things for himself and sometimes gets mad if you try to help him. I see lots of bumps and bruises in his future! He's my wild child and is definitely all boy! He plays with everything by holding it in one hand and hitting it with the other. He is saying mama, dada, and making the "b" sound.

The best word to describe Tucker is content. He's just always happy. He'll find one toy and sit a play with it for half an hour. He tends to watch and study and figure things out. He is constantly messing with the buckles in his car seat, high chair, and stroller. I have a feeling he'll be my escape artist! He's a total mama's boy and is perfectly happy letting me do things for him. He's my more vocal baby and is constantly "talking." He says mama, dada, bubba, no (while shaking is head, which is pretty adorable,)  and is making the "g" sound.

They're both sweet, happy boys most of the time. I've honestly never seen babies who smile and laugh as much as they do. They also give the best open-mouthed, slobbery kisses.

They have their moments, of course, and can both be pretty short-tempered. Overall, though, they're really good babies; very easy-going and "go with the  flow."

They still aren't sleeping through the night, which is really wearing on me. I know one day I'll miss the extra snuggles and nighttime nursing sessions, but it's hard to remember that at 3:00 am. I know this is only a season, and a short one at that, but I'll be a happier, better, more patient mama when I'm getting decent rest again.

I really can't believe it's already time to start planning their first birthday. While it makes me sad that they are growing so fast, I'm so incredibly thankful to be blessed with two happy, healthy little boys.
