Where'd My Ankles Go?

In case you haven't figured it out, the swelling has set in. I never really had any swelling with Piper, so this is new for me. By the end of the day, my feet and ankles are so puffy and sore. I had to quit wearing my rings a few weeks ago, which I hate. I've seen much worse, though, so I'm thankful it's fairly mild.

I'm 33 weeks and 4 days pregnant now. So crazy! When we found out in January that we were pregnant again, September seemed so far away and now it's almost here! My last few appointments have gone well. The boys have stayed head down for the past three weeks. Yay! I think they're running out of room, so hopefully they'll stay that way. Tucker (Baby B) had been flipping between vertex (head down) and breech pretty regularly. Only one of the four doctors in the practice is willing to deliver the second baby breech and he has certain conditions. (A breech Baby A means a c-section regardless.) Since I have absolutely no control over who's on-call when I go into labor, I'm really hoping Tucker and Carson will behave and both stay vertex so it's a non-issue. At the end of the day, I just want them here safely, but I would love, love, love to avoid a c-section! The boys heart rates are good, my blood pressure is good, I passed the glucose test several weeks ago, and we managed to avoid bed rest. After feeling like my body was failing me for so long, it's nice that it's doing everything right this go-round.

The boys are still very active, and I can tell they're still growing and getting stronger! As they run out of room, I feel them reacting to each other more and more. They also react to me more. I can poke them and they'll push back or move away. They've started getting the hiccups, too, which is pretty much the cutest thing ever. I'm huge (measuring 42 weeks now. Yikes!) and miserable and have more aches and pains than I can count, but I know I'll miss this once they're here. We have another growth ultrasound next week. I'm anxious to see how big they are now!

I can't believe how close we are! Today, my OB said he expects me to go into labor within the next 2-3 weeks. 36 weeks is average for twins, and he said most are delivered by 37 weeks. So exciting!! The car seats are installed. The boys' bag is all packed and mine is packed except for a few things I'll have to throw in at the last minute. Their room is pretty much done and we have all of the essentials. We're just missing our babies!

And just for fun, since I happened to be wearing the same outfit, here's a 24 week/ 32 week comparison:

And I thought I was big at 24 weeks...
